A vintage vase with textured base, executed in very thick and very weighty lead crystal glass, designed by Lars Hellsten for Swedish glassworks, Skruf, in the mid-late 1960s.
The vase was made using the German half-post method (an old method of bottle production adopted by many Scandinavian art glass designers in the 1960s and 70s), and was blown into a half-mould that gives the base of the vase a very noticeable and typically Hellsten-esque texture and pattern whilst leaving the rest of the vase to take its shape free-form.
