Nude With Deer Engraved Vase

Vincenzo Eulisee, 1987

Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Italy

£640 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A huge and striking engraved vase by renowned Italian artist Vincenzo Eulisse, in collaboration with Murano glassworks Seguso Vetri d'Arte, with whom he worked to create a select number of one-off artworks in 1987.

The image, engraved and infilled with an opaque white wax that brings the scene alive, takes in the full length of the vase. It depicts a nude male of apparent Roman bearing aside a deer stretching to eat leaves from a tree. Perhaps an allusion to Diane and Acteon, or perhaps a mythology of Eulisse's own creation.

Signed to the side, 'Eulisse'.
