Uncatalogued Green Asymmetrical Dish

Per Lütken, 1953

Kastrup-Holmegaard, Denmark

£70 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

An unusual version of one of Per Lütken's better-known designs - an asymmetrical dish, Form 15737, executed in dark green glass. This combination of form and colour goes unnoticed by the factory catalogues of the period, so was possibly a special order for a retailer or exporter.

Lütken designed the dish for Holmegaard, Denmark, in 1953 but the style of signature places production in the mid-1960s to very early 1970s.

The dish has incredibly thick walls, rounded, smooth and tactile, and sits, perfectly balanced, on a surprisingly small base. The bowl is asymmetrically offset from the centre, lending it a dynamic look.

Signed to the base 'Holmegaard - PL - 15737'.
