Pulled Rim Gold Leaf Vase

Francesco Ragazzi, c.1990

Eugenio Ferro, Italy

£360 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A very large and very thick-walled clear glass vase in a classic Murano hotworked 'bat eared' form, designed and executed by Francesco Ragazzi for the Eugenio Ferro glassworks, Murano, probably in the early-mid 1990s.

As well as its distinctive pulled-rim, the vase draws the eye with its dense layer of gold leaf craquelure, wrought by applying the fine foils of precious metal to the surface whilst molten, and blowing the glass a little to gently pull them apart - then sealing them with a second layer of clear glass.

Bears original retail/export labels, and is engraved 'F. Ragazzi' to the base.
