Trailed Scavo Vase

Vittorio Rigattieri, c.1975

Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Italy

Sold! (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A huge vintage aqua-green glass vase with a conical foot and an applied thick glass ribbon trailing around its circumference, designed by Vittorio Rigattieri for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano, in the mid/late 1970s.

The exterior is decorated a scavo - a technique whereby the vase is rolled in ashes and salts whilst still semi-molten to create the time-weathered look of excavated Roman glass.
