A contemporary soffiato (thinly mouth-blown) centrepiece bowl in a striking ruby red glass, designed by Marino Santi for Eugenio Ferro & C., Murano.
It comprises delicate flared bowl with a propellor-like optic ribbed pattern, with an equally delicate applied foot of blown glass with a folded-over base rim. With its simple and clean lines, this vase draws inspiration from classic 1920s Venetian design.
Bears a Vetro Artistico Murano label - V.A.M. representing a consortium of Murano glassworks guaranteeing the authenticity of the glass - with the number 050 for the Eugenio Ferro works. Engraved signature of 'M. Santi' to the underside.
There is a slight uneveness to the rim of the foot, a by-product of its handmade nature.
