Applied Trail 'Probitum' Vase

Ewald (Evald) Dahlskog, c.1927-29

Kosta Glasbruk, Sweden

£400 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A very rare and quite large 'Probitum' footed vase (model 4884) designed by noted Swedish ceramacist/painter/designer Ewald Dahlskog (sometimes transliterated to Evald Dahlskog) for Kosta Glasbruk, Sweden, in the mid-late 1920s.

Dahlskog worked for Kosta between 1925-1929. The vase is absent from Kosta's 1926 trade catalogue, illustrated in the 1931 catalogue, and seems to have been discontinued before the 1933 catalogue was published - giving it a quite short production span.

Tall, thick-walled, and in a röktopas (smoke-topaz) colour typical of the period, it has a tulip-shaped body that is decorated with applied vertical trails/ribs in the same colour. The body is attached to the foot via a solid double-knopped stem.
