White Scavo Floor-Vase

Vittorio Rigattieri, c.1975

Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Italy

Sold! (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

Substantial cylindrical floor-vase, or stick stand, designed by Vittorio Rigattieri for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano, in the mid 1970s. It is very thick-walled and incredibly weighty (over 7kg / 15lb), finished with a neatly cut and chamfered top rim.

The exterior is decorated a scavo - a technique whereby the vase is rolled in ashes and salts whilst still semi-molten to create the time-weathered look of excavated Roman glass.
