Large White Scavo Vase

Vittorio Rigattieri, c.1970

Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Italy

Sold! (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

Very large bulbous vase, designed by Vittorio Rigattieri for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, Murano, in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It has a tapering organic shape with cut and ground top rim. The vase has a very thick and very heavy base, making an ostensibly precarious form very stable.

The exterior is decorated a scavo - a technique whereby the vase is rolled in ashes and salts whilst still semi-molten to create the time-weathered look of excavated Roman glass.

Bears original factory label to the side.
