Doppio Incalmo Vase

Alfredo Barbini, c.1970

Vetreria Alfredo Barbini, Italy

£450 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A large cylinder vase of doppio incalmo construction, a complex glassmaking technique in which three hemispheres of glass of identical diameter are joined together whilst semi-molten and are worked into a single vessel, designed by Alfredo Barbini, c.1970.

The incalmo sections of deep blue, bright yellow and blue-green are worked asymmetrically so that they're of unequal proportions, and the top two have been selectively satinated.

Bears original factory label, and is engraved 'Barbini Murano' near the base.
