Stacking Egg Cups / Candlesticks

Erik Höglund, c.1960

Kosta Boda Åfors, Sweden

£45 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A vintage set of stackable moulded glass egg cups or - as the original packaging suggests - candlesticks, designed by Erik Höglund, probably in the early 1960s, for Swedish glassworks, Boda.

Despite their purely functional appearance, itself very unusual for Höglund (better know for his abstract and rusticated designs), these egg cups are fairly scarce.

They come complete with their original box, which is replete with fantastic period graphics created by John Mellin, husband of Boda designer Signe Persson-Mellin.
