Gold 'Neptune' Champagne Flutes, Pair

Darryle Hinz, 1987

Holmegaard / Royal Copenhagen, Denmark

£70 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A very rare pair of delicate gold-plated millenium-edition 'Neptune' (or 'Neptun') champagne flutes. The series was originally designed in plain glass by Darryle Hinz for Holmegaard in 1987, and the champagne flutes were rereleased with 24k gold plating in 1999 under Royal Copenhagen in very limited numbers of boxed pairs to celebrate the dawning of the new millennium.

Entirely hand-made, each glass comprises a tall thin crystal flute joined to the foot with a conch shell-like knop with a 'celery' texture that has been plated in gold.

Each glass is etched 1999-2000 to the base, in reverse, so it can be read from the top.

There are currently two boxed pairs in stock.
