Modular Architectural Block Set

Christer Sjögren, c.1970

Lindshammar Glasbruk, Sweden

£135 (approx. € EUR / $ USD)

A set of six original 1970s clear lead crystal glass 'W' / 'M' shaped architectural blocks that can interfit to make pleasing geometric sculptures in an array of combinations. They're from the 'Arkitektur-Glas' series, designed by Christer Sjögren for Swedish glassworks, Lindshammar Glasbruk.

The blocks were hand-poured, using open-backed casting, which necessarily incorporates the foibles of hand-made glass processes - random bubbles, swirls and ripples - and are subtly textured on all sides.

They are 'new old stock', discovered in a Copenhagen glass warehouse that had closed its doors in the mid-1970s.
