A vintage and very rare suncatcher featuring an impressed abstract design of ice-like lines around a central circle, designed by Michael Bang for Kastrup-Holmegaard, circa 1969.
It is unusual in two ways. Firstly, because it has been executed in the smokey-topaz colour of the 'Havanna' series, which it was not a part of, and secondly because it is signed with the factory name and the number '228', apparently one of a sequence. They probably originate from an exhibition, or were part of a limited special presentation series not available to the general public.
The suncatcher is hand-pressed, using a method not unlike pressing a monogram into sealing wax, and necessarily incorporates an uneven look - often including asymmetry, bubbles, swirls and frit. Consequently, each suncatcher is unique.
