A very large and very striking vintage sculpture in the form of an abstract eye-like form, executed in graduated golden-amber glass and gold leaf by renowned Murano glass artist Romano Donà for Vetreria Stefano Toso in the early-mid 1990s.
The sculpture, a disc of thick glass with an applied sphere to the centre, was made a massello - which is to say it was manually formed from a solid gather of glass whilst molten - and comprises a number of distinctly layered coloured and clear glasses and fine layers of pure gold leaf. The simple shape belies the complexity and craft of its execution.
Complete with wrought iron stand.
