A typically irreverent and vibrant cobalt blue glass sculpture (form H.1291) of Jesus as a spaceman - or perhaps a spaceman as Jesus - created by Erik Höglund for Swedish glassworks, Boda, in the mid-1960s.
The abstract sculpture was made in two parts - the main body, the corpus Christi, was first hand-cast, with the face and a random array of indents being pressed into the molten glass in a manner not unlike pressing a seal into sealing wax, and then applied to a separately cast base.
