Large 'Pesce' Sculpture

Romano Donà, c.1990

Vetreria Stefano Toso, Italy

'Pesce', a very large stylised fish sculpture designed and executed by Romano Donà for Vetreria Stefano Toso, Murano, around 1990.

The sculpture was made a massello - which is to say it was manually formed from a solid gather of glass whilst molten - and comprises a number of distinctly layered coloured and clear glasses, which interact with injected bubbles. The simple shape belies the complexity and craft of its execution.
